It is a morning scene of an ordinary family in what appears to be the Tama district in Tokyo, but is typical everywhere in Japan. Ikuta Kosuke and his wife Sanae have just moved into a newly-built detached house with their two children Mina and Satoru. The breadwinner of the family, Kosuke is a kind, family-oriented man, but oddly has a tendency to be a stickler for things and a dreamer. He has secretly been longing for life in his own house to be similar to what is shown in television dramas. However, reality has been quite different. Small home issues such as the problems of the dining table’s “lived-in feel”, the sofa that is practically “dead”, and the juicer that should be used to make fresh juice every morning – are very grating to a stickler like him. This is simply an average morning in any family.

Totally inexperienced, all they have to fall back on are their youth, passion, and the lessons they're learning in class--and yet the two are already getting dragged into a string of complex cases. But thanks to the help of classmates and full-fledged detectives, they begin to solve one crime after another. Polar opposites end up complementing each other's shortcomings as they combine action with deductive reasoning in this comical yet serious police drama so fast-paced, it'll leave you breathless.

Kazuki Mai, an elementary schoolgirl, wanted to be a magician but her skills weren't good enough for her to join her grandparents' Magiccarat troupe. One day she sees a light enter a strange heart-shaped mirror. The light is actually a mirror fairy named Topo, who takes over her favourite stuffed toy, a flying squirrel and gives her a bracelet with the 4 card suits. The bracelet can turn into a bubble wand which transforms Mai into the 18 year old magician Magical Emi, who uses her magic to help people and participate in her grandparents' shows.

The drama will center around how a 35 year old changes the school and influences her fellow classmates’ lives while dealing with the dark reality of today’s high schools, including bullying and skipping school.
