Morita Haruki is a righteous surgeon who spends all his time saving patients in the hospital. However, from time to time, he is confronted by the hospital management team which emphasises on profits and power. One day, he met a female senior surgeon, Kondo Chizuru, in the hospital and eventually falls for her.

Massan is based on the lives of Masataka Taketsuru and his wife Jessie Roberta "Rita" Cowan, a Scotswoman Taketsuru met while studying abroad.

Water Boys is a Japanese television drama series aired in Japan on Fuji Television in 2003. There is a fairly large cast due to the amount of members in each team. There were 32 swimmers in this drama who were carefully chosen to fit their roles, but none of them had ever done synchronized swimming before.
